Exclusive Interview : Srinivasa Avasarala - Oohalu Gusa Gusalade Srinivasa Avasarala’s dream film
Hasn’t your script become outdated?
The screenplay is adapted from a French play Cyranno De Bergerac….the major conflict from the movie Oohalu Gusagusalade is adapted from this play. The heroine is the most important person in the movie. Comedy is something I am proud of, there are no bad dialogues, no skin show, there is no condescending comedy. It will appeal to all audience without embarrassment. I have written this script two years back and I wrote about 8 drafts and kept improving.
Is your producer confident of its prospects?
I don’t talk a lot, my producer said yes to the script but he had his doubts. Once the 15 days of shoot got completed and budget came under control he got the confidence. The first time I wrote I had certain people in mind but later on I felt fresh faces would look good for a love story. The performances are going to be the highlight of the film, I am eager to see how people react.
What is the tone of the film?
It is not a loud film, it is subtle. Whenever I try to write a script, some aspect of my personality comes to the fore. I don’t like melodramas, sentiments, whenever I write I try to stay away from that style. I still want to act, acting in two films write now. Whenever I have a script ready and whenever I want to tell a story I will direct. Several things I don’t know, I haven’t seen the technical side of the film – the dubbing,DTS, mixing etc and got tired. Since I like the product I don’t feel it much either, if I get home and fall asleep I am not able to get up till next mornin.
